Surrounded by his loving family at Redbanks Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree, Kentucky, Jerry’s peaceful passing marked the end of a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and unwavering faith.

Born on November 19, 1943, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Jerry was the son of the late Wilma Fuller Harper. From an early age, he developed a strong sense of responsibility and a deep appreciation for the values of faith, family, and community—principles that would guide him throughout his life.

Jerry spent much of his life working as a skilled carpenter and homebuilder. He took pride in his craftsmanship, dedicating himself to building homes and creating spaces where families could grow and thrive. In addition to his work in construction, he was also known for breeding dogs and caring for horses, demonstrating his love for animals and the outdoors. His work ethic and attention to detail earned him the respect of those who worked alongside him and those who benefited from his talents.

Outside of his professional life, Jerry found joy in a variety of interests. He had a passion for singing and photography, often capturing moments that reflected the beauty of everyday life. These hobbies brought him personal fulfillment and allowed him to share his creativity with others.

Faith played a central role in Jerry’s life. For more than sixty years, he was a devoted member of Lone Star Church, where he built lasting relationships and remained committed to his spiritual journey. His presence within the church community was a testament to his dedication and faithfulness, and he will be remembered for the quiet strength and steady example he provided to others.

Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Sarah Dutton Harper, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Together, they built a strong family foundation rooted in care, respect, and shared values.

He also leaves behind his sister, Janet “Jan” (William “Dickie”) Mitchell; daughters Tina Harper and Jim Nalley, and Amy and Rob Doner; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Jereomy Harper, Kaylyn and Zelene Zaleta, Anthony and Tasha Nalley, Nathaniel Doner, Kylee Brady, Matthew Doner, and others.
